What you’ll do
The Software Engineer will be part of an agile team responsible for delivering the digital functions necessary for the business to manufacture cars and components across all our plants. This role involves analyzing business requirements, designing solution proposals, developing and testing the agreed solutions as well as deploying and supporting the solutions to our business stakeholders.
Our applications are utilized across all our production plants, making it essential for our systems landscape to be robust, scalable, and efficient. We also strive to adopt modern technologies to ensure we are using the best solutions available. With an always-on mindset, you will assist various departments in the different plants by designing, configuring, and managing solutions for their devices, tools, and applications, all in accordance with factory and corporate standards. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with local IT site teams and receive support from global specialists and operations teams.
Who You Are
• You are an independent Java Software Engineer with over five years of experience. Your expertise spans full-stack software engineering, including front-end technologies (preferably Angular), Spring, REST APIs, databases, cloud services, and messaging systems (such as IBM MQ and Kafka).
• You possess excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills in English, enabling you to effectively communicate with both technical specialists and individuals without technical knowledge.
We appreciate it if you also have
• Experience using Docker containers and orchestration with OpenShift and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of the manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge of the automotive industry.
• Experience with .Net as we have some minor apps that need to be maintained before they are eventually migrated to Java
• Experience with Windows Service Applications and Linux
Other requirements
• We expect you to work 3 days a week from the VCC Torslanda office (with adjustments for personal needs and situations)
• At the beginning of the assignment, we would like you to travel for a couple of days to meet other team members in the VCC Skövde office
• Travel to other VCC sites might be needed but we do not expect it will be more 2 times per year Other information
• The Connected Shopfloor team has a global setup, with team members located in different offices. For the VCT Torslanda office, we aim to have four team members, including a Product Manager. Other locations include Skövde, Gent, and Kraków.
