Position: Senior Design Engineer – Compartment Trim Team (Parental Leave Cover)
We are seeking a skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our Compartment Trim Team for a temporary assignment during a parental leave. This team holds product responsibility for interior compartment trim pillars in our vehicles, including the tailgate panel. We need an experienced design engineer to step in and contribute to an upcoming important milestone.
Role Overview As a Senior Design Engineer on the Compartment Trim Team, you will generally engage in all phases of product development—from concept and industrialization to production start and running changes. You’ll be tasked with designing plastic components and systems to meet our technical goals, ensuring quality and deliveries according to our project milestones. Your work will involve close collaboration with the team consisting of design engineers and project leaders, but also with cross-functional teams. This role therefor requires strong cross-functional collaboration skills to work effectively with team members and interface with design engineers in related areas. You’ll take the lead in developing parts related to mechanical integration and design, ensuring alignment with project requirements and timelines.
Benefits of the Role This position offers the opportunity to connect with new teams and build a network within
Volvo Cars. By working closely with various R&D teams and suppliers, you’ll deepen your technical expertise in this system area and expand your professional network within the organization. You will leverage both your technical skills and interpersonal strengths to achieve shared objectives and support team success.
Your Skills and Profile We are looking for a design engineer with proven expertise in plastic design.
Proficiency in CATIA V5 is required. Our ideal candidate is creative, curious, and people-focused, with the ability to adapt quickly and deliver results during an important phase of a project. You are a self-starter, motivated to take on challenging tasks, and capable of managing multiple issues simultaneously in a structured manner. Excellent communication skills and fluency in English are essential.
You hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or have equivalent experience, with several years in R&D; experience working with Volvo Cars is a plus. You are passionate about product innovation, design, understanding customer needs – and are a team player.
Why applying? We look forward to welcoming you onboard for a short but important time
- and supporting you in making a significant impact in and for our team!
