Group Trim and Aero – let’s introduce ourselves. We are having the responsibility of developing exterior trim parts like Sill moulding, Lower door moulding, Wheel arch liners, Wheel arch extensions, Underbody panels, Emblems, Radar covers and Shutter systems. Main attributes are Design, Aero, Contamination, Perceived Quality, Thermal management and Safety. We are drawing the first lines on blank paper in the beginning of the product development and either onboard an external supplier or continue to lead the development work to mass production. We are the main responsible and are taking ownership for the parts independently. At Group Trim and aero we are establishing global technical strategies aligned with the ambition of Volvo Cars Cooperation. At Exterior Front and Rear we are on a journey to be a world class engineering office!
What you will do As Group Design Leader (GDL) within Group Trim and Aero you will be responsible for the product development and deliveries across different programs such as in concept phase, industrial phase, series builds and as well following the product in running production to carefully improve the quality of the product area. The teams within the group are area oriented but are working cross functional to bring out the best of everyone.
Your role involves engaging suppliers to ensure the creation of products are following specifications and requirements set from internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible to create technical logical plans for your area, make sure that the plan is followed with involvement of relevant functions of roles such as procurement, supplier quality, manufacturing, attribute leaders, aftermarket etc. With entrepreneurial skills you will evaluate technical and financial aspects towards sustainability, energy efficiency, wight optimization etc. to develop the most competitive car out on the market.

Education and Skills:
• Master of Science alt. Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent competence through other education and /or professional experience.
• A few years of experience as a Group Design Leader / Developer.
• Experience with project management and ESOW/sourcing is recommended.
• Understanding of designing parts in plastic- and composites materials.
• Good knowledge in English, both written and spoken.
• Preferably driver´s license B
