Purpose The purpose of the Product Build Project Leader (PBPL)
- Vehicle GOT is to lead, monitor, coordinate and secure the total delivery of test objects. The PBPL is the Product Builds representative in the project and secures Q (Quality), D (Delivery), and C (Cost) for Product Builds towards the project. The PBPL is working throughout all phases of a project and the product life cycle. Responsibility Lead the cross functional build activities from order to delivery of physical test objects based on input from Verification (FVV-PM) and initiate actions along with the below responsibilities:
Planning & Budget
• Create, anchor and follow-up build time plans for the physical test objects.
• Estimate, monitor and control budget for Product Build resources and material related to build of physical test objects.
• Inform relevant functions – internally Product Builds and externally – on expected deliveries according to the build time plan for the physical test objects.
• In case of campaign need on pre-production vehicles: Plan updates, request resources and report status to stakeholders.
Meeting
- & Reporting structure
• Be chairman for meetings linked to physical test object builds such as Vehicle Update Meeting (VUM), Rig Update Meeting (RUM), build meetings, sign-off/hand-over meetings, etc.
• Participate in decided meetings linked to physical test object builds (Including relevant project meetings)
• Regularly report material status, build progress, etc. to project and/or customer.
• Give notice/alert with proposed actions if a build delivery cannot be met.
Build & Documentation
• Support specification and ordering of test objects.
• Initiate Bill of Material (BoM) check/review’s according to detailed time plan together with stakeholders.
• Secure – based on engineering input – a correct Bill of Material (BoM) for all test objects.
• Initiate part procurement based on engineering input (BUL) such as Modification Request (MR), Bill of Material (BOM), etc., and initiate part delivery from storage to build location for parts managed by Project Builds. (all part numbers that are part of the project scope)
• Request build location and build resources with necessary plant or workshop.
• Secure necessary build instructions and – if needed – PD/Engineering support.
• Lead and monitor build at plant or workshop until test object sign-off.
• Collection & documentation of Road Approval documents from affected engineering commodities and presenting the status.
• Secure that PROTOM is updated to reflect correct Bill of Material (BoM) and specification for the test objects.
Continuous Improvement
• Continuously take responsibility and update Way of working and Processes Depending on project portfolio content, project size and complexity, personal skills and experience, the PBPL responsibilities can be carried out by one or divided amongst several PBPL’s.
Authorities
• Lead and manage Product Builds activities and deliveries in the physical build process.
• Initiate all needed actions – internally Product Builds or by other functions – to secure test object delivery on time towards project requirements.
• Make decisions towards physical build plan based on Product Builds deliverables, such as; o Go/No-Go on DEFRUN & build start o Approval of Modification Requests (MR) o Release of test object after build completion.
• Make decisions towards the campaign scope and way of working with regards to the PB Campaign process.
