Innovation starts with being curious. At Volvo Cars, we believe that being curious and truly committed to understanding people is the key to future success. We are people who care about other people, working together to create new technologies and innovations. Want to join us?
In 2020 Volvo Cars released its first fully electric vehicle, the XC40 Recharge, with ambitions to electrify its entire line-up by 2030. Electrification of the vehicle and the entire automotive business is at the core of Volvo Cars strategy and one highly prioritized area within the Company. While this transition is in line with our core value of sustainability, we recognize electric vehicles are only part of the equation when it comes to sustainable mobility. As such, we wish to offer our customers a convenient way to optimize the flow of energy in their homes, thereby reducing their carbon footprint and their electricity bill.
Within the External Energy Systems team, we are responsible for the development of competitive solutions outside of the vehicle, ranging from wall boxes and energy storage systems to Vehicle to Grid design and testing.
We are part of our Energy organization where we work closely together with Charging, Battery, App and Cloud teams. Together we are delivering AC- and DC-charging functionalities as well as energy management systems internal and external the Vehicles. Technologies like V2X, Smart charging and Wireless charging are just around the corner!
The external energy system area is growing and will play a more important role for Volvo Cars going forward. The ambition is that our customers shall have the opportunity to charge their vehicles in a sustainable and safe way, and the possibility to integrate with smart energy management systems. Part of this is to develop the best software & hardware quality and functionality in the market and continuously evolve our way of working. This is where we want your help!
What you will do As a Verification and integration Engineer you will drive testing of our components, systems and the total eco-system. We see that you strengthen our existing team with experience from testing components and systems, e.g. wallboxes, electric converters, battery systems and related measurement & communication systems. Close collaboration between different teams and suppliers is vital for our organization, so good communication skills, flexibility and openness are key. You need to have a high personal drive and take ownership, due to the nature of the technology area being new and partly immature.
You and your skills
• Experience from an OEM within home energy systems, like EV charging/energy management/solar power/energy storage is highly meritorious
• BSc/MSc or several years of relevant experience
• Experience from software and/or hardware development
• Knowledge within Charging solutions, both public and private, is meritorious
• An innovative mindset
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Driver’s license (B)
Who are you? You are passionate about energy solutions and cars, both from a customer and technical point of view. You have a high level of engagement and a strong enthusiasm. It is crucial to be good at cross-functional work and networking, since collaboration with internal and external stakeholders will be part of your daily work, hence you need to possess great communication and cooperation skills. You need to be structured and have organizational skills, to guide the development in the desired direction.
