VAS is a pioneering leader in the autonomous driving industry, focused on revolutionizing long-haul trucking through cutting-edge, high-speed driverless technology. Our mission is to enhance road safety, optimize logistics, and reduce carbon emissions by deploying the next generation of autonomous trucks on highways across the globe.
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Verification and Validation (V&V) Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our high-speed driverless trucks on road. You will play a critical role in defining the strategy and plan for test and verification activities of our hub-to-hub projects. You will define the best practices following the applicable standards and safety guidelines and play an instrumental role in verifying the complex systems that enable our autonomous vehicles to operate safely on public roads.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Test Planning and Execution:
- Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate the performance and safety of autonomous driving systems, focusing on high-speed operation on highways.
- Oversee and strategize the overall verification and validation activities together with our partners, including functional testing, system integration testing, and regression testing.
- Design tests in simulated environments and on real-world test tracks, ensuring coverage of all potential road scenarios.
2. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze test data to identify system performance, safety issues, and anomalies.
- Generate detailed reports and documentation, highlighting test outcomes, potential risks, and areas for improvement. Manage stakeholders and report to executive leadership teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address identified issues and implement corrective actions.
3. Compliance and Safety Standards:
- Ensure that all testing and validation processes adhere to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company safety protocols such as internal road approval processes.
- Stay updated on the latest regulations and best practices in autonomous vehicle technology, particularly for high-speed, heavy-duty applications.
4. System Validation:
-Support and supervise validation of the integration of hardware, software, and sensor systems, including LiDAR, radar, cameras, and GPS, ensuring seamless operation as well as end-to-end validation of autonomous trucking systems, from perception and decision-making algorithms to control and actuation.
5. Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously refine and improve V&V methodologies to enhance test coverage and efficiency.
- Provide feedback to the development teams in neighbor organizations and external partners to optimize system design and functionality based on validation results.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
• Experience with simulation tools and frameworks (e.g., ROS, Gazebo, CARLA) and data analysis tools.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in verification and validation, preferably in autonomous vehicles, robotics, ADAS or automotive systems.
• Strong understanding of autonomous driving technologies, including sensors, perception algorithms, and control systems and AI-driven AD development.
• Experience with high-speed vehicle dynamics and testing in real-world environments.
• Knowledge and deep understanding of applicable safety standards and regulations related to autonomous vehicles (e.g., ISO 26262, ISO 34502, SOFIT, UL 4600, UL 2743, UL 991, SAE J3018, ISO 22178, ASIL).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience from stakeholder management and cross functional collaboration in large, complex working environments.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Hands-on experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing or simulation environments.
• Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in autonomous systems & AL-driver simulators.
