This is what you are going to do
You, our hopefully soon to be colleague, will be one of our buyers taking the lead in driving Prototype Purchasing within Product Builds, Volvo Group Trucks Technology. You will, as one out of five buyers, be responsible for prototype parts for Heavy Duty Truck/Transport solutions. Your stakeholders are mainly based in Gothenburg, and your suppliers are based in the Nordic region. Your purchasing responsibility will be focusing on securing and optimizing the prototype supplier base as well as securing agreements, developing best practice purchasing processes, meeting lead time requirements etc. You will also drive continuous improvement in alignment with stakeholders/colleagues within Volvo Group Technology and by that you will influence the products. In other words, you will strengthen Volvo Groups competitive advantage by understanding the business needs and the supplier. Of course you will also do some operative work, so it will be a nice mix! You are interested and curious in new technology but also in well-established technologies. Your focus will be strategic but now and then you will support by ordering parts to suppliers as well. You have a work experience from being a strategic buyer within automotive business, as well as technical understanding.
This is us. You, me and our colleagues
Yesterday I asked my colleagues how they should describe Volvo Group Technology and Prototype Purchasing. They all believe high performance comes from having fun and the courage to take action. We all need to work together having the Volvo Core values as a guiding star. Doing the same thing as we did yesterday will not make much of a difference. And this is where you come into the picture. You as we believe in action, collaboration and clear communication. Prototype buyers belong to the team of 10 team members where we all work together and support each other. We count on you as well to be willing to do that! An important part for all of us is to interact and collaborate with other parts of the Volvo Group and represent Prototype Purchasing in related forums.
Who are you?
• You speak and write excellent Swedish & English
• You are a strong and flexible team player, eager to challenge and improve
• You happily work with “small” projects and present them in a pedagogic way
• You have a can-do approach: you have a positive mindset, high level of energy, and you are ready to tackle challenges
• You demonstrate superior communication skills
• You enjoy managing many parallel activities and you have a target-oriented approach with the customer in focus
• You have a business mindset
• Former experience in Purchasing/Product development (+8 years), technical background and automotive experience are considered as assets (preferably within any of the area sheet metal, casting, hoses)
• You have a driver’s license for a car
