Senior Service designer – Construction Equipment / B2B platform
We are looking for a senior Service designer that has deep knowledge and experience in customer experience analysis, strategic systems thinking and hands-on service creation and evaluation. The candidate should possess the skillset to analyse complex service platform offers and to lead the process in defining the most suitable way forward, to either redesign current offer or create a new solution. The project requires experience from similar assignments and a person that is comfortable and skilled in communicating both verbally and visually with different stakeholders.
Short project description: The senior Service Designer will be working closely with multiple cross-functional stakeholders within Volvo Construction Equipment to analyse the dealer experience of a B2B digital platform and build a new platform concept to improve current situation. The existing digital landscape is complex and built around a vast number of different systems and apps. The project will need to do a thorough investigation on current dealer journey and map out the full eco-system to circle in dependencies and major pain points. When created a solid foundation and deep understanding of needs and required jobs of both the dealer and the Volvo organisation, a new vision and concretised concept should be developed and evaluated.
Purpose & objectives: The purpose of the project is to build a vision and concept on how to optimise the dealer experience and build a foundation for a major B2B platform upgrade or something completely new.
Description of the team: The candidate will be working in close collaboration with a cross-functional and multidisciplinary global Volvo CE team and be a part of the Service Design team within Volvo Group Design.
Previous experience – prerequisite/desired: Experienced in conducting 1:1 semi-structured interviews, solid and documented experience working with customer experience assignments within B2B context, working with customer journeys and ecosystem mapping, systems thinking including analysis and design, service concept generation and evaluation.
Tools and required level of expertise:
- Research (ecosystem and impact mapping, qualitative interviews, contextual inquiries, data analysis and synthesis, journey flows, jobs-to-be-done categorization etc.)
- Co-creation methods (workshop facilitation, stakeholder engagement, digital visualization, rapid prototyping, findings consolidation etc.)
- Service concept design and ideation (ideas sorting and prioritization, future back-casting, system scenarios, transition journeys, operational blueprints, MVP success metrics etc.)
Professional profile and personal skillset: We look for candidates with good business acumen and analytical mindset that is experienced working within a B2B environment and used to complex system design. The candidate should feel confident in giving presentations and with strong interpersonal, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills. It’s important to be able to take responsibility, organise and drive the work forward and be confident in stand-alone as well as team-based performance.

Portfolio: Prerequisite to have a well developed Service design portfolio to show. The portfolio will be evaluated on how the candidate has reasoned to solve key challenges in the projects and how different design tools has been applied. We are also reviewing the portfolio on how well the candidate visually presents relevant assignments through storytelling.
