Product Manager Motion Estimation & Vehicle Automation
Role:
This document describes the mission, main responsibilities, authority and required competencies for a Product Manager (named PM in this document).
Mission:
The mission for the PM is to lead and drive the technical product development in the Motion Estimation & Vehicle Automation train.
This means that the PM:
Plan, lead, prioritize and coordinate the train product backlog.
Communicate with stakeholders, manage product risk and drive product improvement
Own the product roadmap
Responsibilities:
The PM has a delegated responsibility from a Sub-Stream owner to:
Plan, prioritize and coordinate the train Backlog
Prioritize Capabilities:
Define the train PI objectives in the upcoming Product Increment (PI) to secure progress
Communicate across organizations, in order to safeguard the train delivery.
Identify and escalate product risks and dependencies
Understand and evaluate both internal and external customer needs
Understand and support VMEM portfolio work, identify the VMM contribution
Develop and communicate the train product mission and roadmap
Contribute to the Sub stream Technical committee
Coordinating effort estimation with the GMs and POs
Be the central point of contact for the product, which the train is responsible of
Align with the System Architect to understand Enabler work
Ensure an effective Product Management/Product Owner Team
Authorities
The Sub-Stream owner is responsible for the delegation of authority to the PM.
Competencies:
The PM should be an experienced engineer with deep technical knowledge in the actual area and have a good knowledge in the Lean
- Agile way of working.
Practical experience:
A PM should preferably have several years of product development experience, relevant truck application knowledge, worked with cross-functional dependencies, experience of Agile practices in organizations and also worked with different roles technical lead/ Project Manager within technical development organization.
Theoretical knowledge:
A PM should have good technical knowledge and understanding of the engineering tools and verification processes/methods relevant for the Sub-Stream set up. A PM should also have the ability to plan, lead and prioritize the Sub- stream backlog and support cross-functional work within the area.
