We are looking for a senior Service designer that has deep knowledge and experience in customer experience analysis. A candidate that has the skillset to move from analysis to define new customer segments and within that explore new business potentials. The project requires a “do:er” that is comfortable in communicating with stakeholders and skilled in visual communication.
Short project description:
The senior Service designer will be working closely with Volvo CE Brand Experience to study and define customer profiles of key strategic future business areas, industries, and segments. The project will furthermore focus on co-create and sharpen a strategic ecosystem map on how the selected industries might shape and transform in the future.
Purpose & objectives: Identify new customer value pools and translate that into strategic focus areas for potential services and business solutions. Also, contribute to bring VCE business closer to customer needs in their daily context and capture (future) business requirements.
Description of the team: The candidate will be working in close collaboration with a cross-functional and multidisciplinary global Volvo CE team and be a part of the Service Design team within Volvo Group Design.
Previous experience – prerequisite/desired: Experienced in conducting 1:1 semi-structured interviews, solid and documented experience working with customer experience assignments such as customer segmentation and research, customer profiling into personas/archetypes, working with customer journeys and ecosystem mapping.
Tools and required level of expertise: Solid and documented experience in qualitative research, customer segmentation, data triangulation, applying design methods such as customer personas, journey mapping, systemic design and strong visual communication skills. Ability to identify customer value and translate that into business opportunities.
Professional profile and personal skillset: We look for candidates with good business acumen that is confident in giving presentations and with strong interpersonal, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills. It’s important to be able to take responsibility, organise and drive the work forward and be confident in stand-alone as-well as team-based performance.

Portfolio: Prerequisite to have a well developed Service design portfolio to show. The portfolio will be evaluated on how the candidate has reasoned to solve key challenges in the projects and how different design tools has been applied. We are also reviewing the portfolio on how well the candidate visually presents relevant assignments through storytelling.
Start date: April 2024
Contract end date: June 30th with opportunity to prolongation
